Wow.....I can't believe how quickly this class has flown by! I have gained great new resources to use with my students and very excited to get started using everything!

This summer was my first time back in college since graduating in 1999. It has been wonderful having so many others share information and words of encouragement. I look forward to having additional classes with everyone for my remaining 8 classes!

Resource

After reading the chapters and completing the discussion questions for chapters 5 and 15, I am very excited to begin using the new resources outlined in the book. It amazes me how much information is available via the web. As educators, I believe we get so bogged down with our day to day requirements and life that we miss out on finding valuable websites due to lack of time.
After perusing the ePALS Classroom Exchange, I realized how useful this site could have been last year with a couple of my units.
My friend suggested a website that she discovered this summer at a workshop.....it is
www.thinkfinity.com It provides a wealth of information and has been promoted for use at various National Conferences.
We should all ban together and share useful sites to enhance our teaching........

Wishing......

I woke up this morning to the beeping of a truck. I could barely hear this beeps, but I knew what was happening. The seldom seen road crew is working on the gravel.......getting everything set for paving......yeah! My neighbors and I have heard for years that the roads would be sealed, but talk is all that was happening until this summer. Hopefully I will continue to hear the sound of that beep for a few more days! I will be very nice when we do not have to drive on the dirt road anymore!

Raising girls.......

Last Thursday my little baby celebrated her 17th birthday!!! Wow....how the time has flown since she was born. We spent the day together getting everything ready for her "party" with her girlfriends.....7 crazy young ladies....they danced, laughed, posed for pictures, took a trip to the football field and track.....and swam in the pool.....I believe they stayed up until 5 a.m.......crazy....oh to be young again....lol
Friday was not the same type of day for my baby though......Her boyfriend of one year decided that they should end their relationship......(he is my best friend's son).......needless to say.....it has been a very emotional few days. I hurt because she hurts and I want to take away the pain.......she cries...I cry.....we talk......we cry......I try to explain that God has a plan for her life and to listen to what HE wants for her.....although her faith is very strong, she just wants to have her guy!!!! I pray that my words of encouragement are sinking in and that she will realize that she doesn't have to have the relationship to be happy......
I have had a very hard time balancing school and being there for her......when her friends are around I am on the computer working away.....but when she wants to talk....I have to say that I have pushed things aside to be there for her......(something I never experienced with my mother..)

New Ideas

Today I learned about free resources available to use in my classroom. I am so excited to begin working on the assigned projects.
